2014 was the year I decided to create a future I could be proud of. In the beginning I didn’t know where to start but I was fortunate to have the freedom to choose. I chose to focus on the things I enjoyed, and the three years which followed involved training for the London Marathon, gaining a BA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck University, and a ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy with Richdale’s Institute. It was a busy time meeting the parts of myself I didn’t know existed. Those years became the foundation of valuable skills, self-exploration and education. This allowed me to identify my values and find a purpose in life. My initial desire was to help people improve their wellbeing. Massage felt like it was something I was born to do.

Through my experience of treating the physical body, I came to recognise that every person comes with their own experiences and concerns. I began to understand we need to focus holistically on the whole person rather than an isolated symptom. I took a special interest in TMJ Dysfunction, facial tension and unspoken energy held in the jaw. Through the experience of treating others, I developed a deeper understanding of the relationship between physical symptoms, the nervous system and our past experiences.

There was not one straight path to becoming a Psychotherapist. It felt like a natural progression from working with the physical body to stepping into the emotional world of others. It was a combination of my current role, personal therapy and a deeper quest to understand the mind, which led me into the world of Psychotherapy.

In 2022, I completed my CPCAB level 2 in Counselling Skills which provided the stepping stones towards a new career move. I graduated from the University of Greenwich in 2025 with a Psychotherapy and Counselling MSC. In adherence with BACP, I am now building my private practice.

I still continue to treat TMJ Dysfunction and facilitate therapeutic writing workshops to inspire creativity and imagination. My experience in these fields has allowed me to build something different in my approach to working with others. It is important for me to work with a purpose that aligns with my personal values. For me, a meaningful life is built around growth, integrity and supporting each other through connection, community and compassion.
